The Event.

The Pathology Update 2023 took place from Friday 24 - Sunday 26 February 2023 at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre and brought together over 1,200 delegates from across Australasia. The event provided a valuable forum for pathology professionals to learn, network, and stay updated on the latest advancements and trends in the field.

The theme of the conference was “Laneways to Discovery”. The event program was designed to provide attendees with an explorative experience where they were encouraged to wander through the extensive scientific streams on offer much like how one would wander through and explore the real Melbourne laneways. It was important that the onsite technology for the conference was seamless and easy to use and displayed content for delegates in an engaging way.

The program included keynote speakers, presentations, workshops, and poster sessions, covering topics such as advances in diagnostic techniques, new research findings, as well as updates on current practices.

The Solution.


Ease of Use, Engagement and Interactivity were important for RCPA when it came to the technology used for their conference. Arinex Live provided a comprehensive suite of event technology solutions that included:

1. Conference App.

Delegate Connect's event app was customised to the look and feel of the theme for the conference. Attendees could easily navigate the event and access all event information including; Agenda, Session Surveys, Floor Plan, Lead Capture, Networking and ePosters all from their mobile devices. Attendees received real-time updates on the conference schedule, speaker information, and session details and they were also able to create a personalised schedule by bookmarking their preferred sessions, which helped them plan their day efficiently. 

Delegate Connect's onsite support team provided technical support and helped attendees with any questions they had about how to use the event app.

2. ePoster Kiosks.

ePoster kiosks provided a digital platform for presenters to showcase their research posters, and attendees could view them on the kiosks placed throughout the conference venue. Attendees could zoom in and out of the posters and search for specific topics.

3. Pre-event Technical Direction.

Delegate Connect's event services included pre-conference coordination for sponsors/exhibitors app profiles, speaker coordination, and content upload portal for speaker presentations. Delegate Connect also provide pre-conference consultation and coordination of production requirements, including liaising with the venue, to ensure a seamless event experience.

Key Considerations.


Delegate Connect was selected as the technology partner for RCPA’s Pathology Update 2023 and was engaged to deliver all of the Technical Elements of the event.

RCPA needed a partner that could take care of the management and coordination of all technical elements of the event and it was essential that the technology was seamless & intuitive and facilitated a fun and engaging experience for delegates and speakers alike from start to finish. 

The event had 141 speakers and it was essential to RCPA that their technical partner was able to facilitate and manage the end to end consultation and technical solutions for speakers, including collecting their presentations and content pre-event, having their presentations ready to go onsite as well as being able to accommodate for presentations which specific requirements (i.e. one speaker wanted to showcase an ultrasound/scan which required the ability to interact with this live on screen).

The conference was a great success and the feedback from RCPA and the delegates was exceptional. The successful implementation of DELEGATE CONNECT'S event technology solutions contributed to the overall success of the conference, ensuring that attendees had a seamless and engaging experience.

Delegate Connect's Conference app, ePoster kiosks and Technical Production services played a significant role in making the RCPA Pathology Update a successful event.  

The event app helped attendees stay informed and organised throughout the conference, and the ePoster kiosks were an innovative addition that enabled presenters to showcase their research in a digital format, enhancing engagement and interaction with attendees. 

The ability to gather feedback from delegates regarding presentations and speakers at the event has also provided key information to RCPA for planning for future Pathology Updates.
